Miami Museum Month: Buy one, get one free!

May is Miami Museum Month. That means buy one, get one free admission or other special offers at 25 participating establishments, for both locals and visitors. Plus, membership at one museum means free admission to all other participating museums in May. The annual event is organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Saturday, May 23rd

Memorial Day Weekend with Oscar G, DJ Icey and BabyAnne!

$5 late-night movies at Coral Gables Art Cinema!

Night owls who also love movies will want to get in on the discount late night movie screenings at the Coral Gables Art Cinema at 11 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is $5 and includes a free popcorn. This Saturday, you can watch The Evil Dead!

Saturday and Sunday, May 23rd and 24th

Haitian and Caribbean book fair!

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Sosyete Koukouy, there will be a free Hatian and Caribbean Book Fair on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24 at the Little Haiti Cultural Center.

The first day will include a reception and lecture where attendees can meet and interact with Haitian and Caribbean authors, historians and artists. Present will be Gerard Ferrere, Edwidge Danticat and Bernard Deideritch. There will also be cultural activities with Zetwal Kreyol, Kiki Wainwright and Mecca aka Grimo.

Sunday will include workshops on Haitian cultural traditions, author readings by Joan Biskupic, Maria Venegas and Joanna Scott along with sales of CDs, books, DVDs along with traditional food for sale, and dance and music performances. Kids can enjoy magicians and storytelling.

Taking place May 23, from 6-9 p.m. and May 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Monday May 25th

Coral Gables Waterway Canoe Tour!

This year’s Memorial Day, spend some time learning about the Miami that once was and indulge in a little historically accurate nostalgia of your own. On the Coral Gables Waterway Canoe Tour, guides will whisk you back to the days of George Merrick (planner and builder of Coral Gables), the town’s formative years, and the heyday of the iconic, charming Biltmore Hotel. You’ll see all kinds of wildlife, unique natural sights, and lots of landmarks as you enjoy a breezy paddle through the area’s canals. Bring water, closed-toe shoes, and sun protection.

The tour runs from 9 a.m. to noon on May 25th

Begins and ends at A.D. Barnes Park Nature Center located at 3401 SW 72nd Avenue, Miami, 33155
