International Fine Art Expositions, founder of Art Miami and the organization behind Miami International Art Fair, partnered with the arts and cultural community of downtown Miami to put on First Friday Art Walk.

Saturday, April 4th

New World Symphony!

The New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy presents works of recently written European music, offering a taste of Hungary in particular, in a program entitled Modern Europe. Composer and conductor Peter Eötvös leads an evening that highlights the cimbalom—a dulcimer-like instrument nicknamed the national instrument of his native Hungary. Fellows will perform Eötvös’ original composition de capo, featuring soloist Chester Englander on the cimbalom, as well as his Chinese Opera. Additionally, audiences will hear the United States premiere of German avant-garde composer Karlheinz Stockhausen’s Points. Stockhausen’s reputation for experimentalism preceded him, and he was often cited for his affinity for amplification. This performance of Points aims to highlight that sonic styling.

Taking place at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $15 – $35

Located at 500 17 St., Miami Beach, 33139
